Fun at the Dentist's Office

Dr. Robert Woo, a Washington oral surgeon has an unusual sense of humor

and an eye for a creative prank. His assistant raised potbellied pigs

and spoke obsessively about them at the office.

So when she had her boss perform oral surgery on her, he reportedly

temporarily implanted fake boar tusks in her mouth as a practical joke,

and then took photographs of her with them.  Before she awoke, while still

under anesthesia, he removed them and completed the prescribed procedure.

The photos made their way around the office and got lots of laughs.

But the employee wasn't amused. She quit her job and sued her boss.

The rest of the story, as Paul Harvey would say, has to do with the

legal aspect of this prank.

First the insurance company refused to pay the employees $250,000 agreed upon

settlement. When Woo sued the insurance company the courts ruled in his favor

and ordered the insurer to repay Woo along with another $750,000.

The dentist's lawyer described the surgeon as a kindhearted, fun-loving man

who was chagrined that the office prank turned out so badly.
